| The birthplace of O R Tambo in Nkantolo Village in Mbizana Local Municipality. Tambo as an individual has played a significant role in the struggle against apartheid. He fought apartheid from inside and outside of South Africa. Tambo was involved in the struggle very early and this is manifested by his expulsion from Fort Hare after being involved in a student strike with Nelson Mandela. He opened the first Black legal practice in the country in 1952. Tambo more than any other person has addressed many international forums urging them to isolate the apartheid state and lend their support to the struggle against apartheid. |
