ProposalDescription:

Amendment of the EA to allow applicant to use larger turbines. total facility capacity, number and ,location of the turbines remain as authorized.

Expanded_Motivation:

The Namies Wind Farm was authorised on 18 April 2016, with 44 turbines, each up to 186m high and a total generation capacity of 140MW. Since then, wind turbine technology has continued to develop and there are now larger, more efficient wind turbines available. Given the improved efficiency of the newer turbines, the applicant would like to have the option to consider these for the project and is thus applying to have the environmental Authorisation amended. Under the amendment, the turbines would increase from a maximum of 186m to 250m high (tip height) and turbine blades increase from 66m to 100m each). In the end, the larger the individual turbine, the fewer will be needed to reach 140MW design capacity of the facility. All other aspects of the project, substations, transmission lines, roads etc. remain unaffected by the proposed amendment. The following table provides the detailed changes associated with the amendment.
