Chris Honiball wishes to establish additional irrigation pivots that will result in total of 160ha under irrigation on the property Openwater 408 near Upington in the Northern Cape.

Expanded_Motivation:

This project entails the ploughing of land, which is currently used as grazing land, in order to put up irrigation pivots for the farming of primarily wheat and maize. A number of pivots will be placed within the property. This is an expansion of an existing irrigation system, pivots are currently located on the property and there are pump stations and pipelines, which will be utilised for the project. The existing electricity points will be used for the additional pivots. Not all the pivots will be active at once as this will be a rotational cropping system pivots will be planted with grass during the rest cycle This proposed development is to expand an existing irrigation development, with the aim of increasing the productivity and subsequently the income generation ability of the property.
