INVITATIONS FOR COMMENTS

DRAFT Regulations on the Registration of National Conservation Bodies

SAHRA’s draft Regulations on the Registration of National Conservation Bodies is available for initial comments and suggestions until the 1st of June 2026.
The draft regulations, to be issued in terms of section 25(1)(b) of the National Heritage Resources Act, set out the framework for the registration and regulation of conservation bodies by SAHRA. The purpose of the regulations is to support consistent and transparent engagement with conservation bodies in heritage resources management. They establish the criteria and application process for registration and outline the roles and responsibilities of both SAHRA and registered conservation bodies.
Comments on the draft regulations should be emailed to llagrange@sahra.org.za by the 1st June 2026. This initial consultation will be followed by publication of the draft in the Government Gazette for a second commenting period prior to finalisation.
