ProposalDescription:

BASIC ASSESSMENT PROCESS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION FOR THE PROPOSED EXPANSION OF GLORIA MINE AT FARM GLORIA 266/01, ASSMANG BLACK ROCK MINE OPERATIONS, SANTOY, NORTHERN CAPE

Expanded_Motivation:

NEED AND DESIREABILITY BRMO proposes to upgrade the relevant infrastructure at Gloria Mine to enable more efficient production including more efficient use of electricity and water at the site. The upgrades will  Reduce the potential for contamination to water.  Reduce water consumption per tonne of ore processed.  Reduce total energy consumed per tonne of ore processed.  Furthermore, this project supports the ultimate need and desirability of the greater BRMO; where the activities being applied for are supportive of the mining operations undertaken. The proposed upgrades will be undertaken within the existing disturbed footprint and thus there will no clearing of undisturbed land. The expansion will continue to contribute towards the fiscus and employment within the area. The expansion affords the potential for improvement in product quality and cost of production and thus contributes towards BRMO remaining a competitive entity in the market.
