 STANDING UNITED

AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

Given the scourge of Gender-Based violence in the country, which remains a national crisis, government implemented the Emergency Response Action Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, which was announced by his Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa in September 2019. The 16 Days Campaign forms the centre point of government’s comprehensive 365 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children. DSAC and SAHRA have continued to play an active role in this campaign and this year we intend on contributing through the Unveiling of the Memorial of Victims of Gender Based Violence at SAHRA Head Office, Cape Town, on 08 September 2022 as part of Women’s Month.

In addition SAHRA has launched a campaign to raise funds towards supporting victims of Gender Based Violence in South Africa, we would like to plea with the public to dig deep and support this worthy cause. All proceeds will go to the Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation. Our aims and objectives are to be the helping hands of GBV victims as well as to raise funds by the 08th of September, signifying with the end of Women’s Month as well as coinciding with the date of the GBV Memorial Unveiling at SAHRA.
